Miss Nepal: hits and misses!!

I’d like to begin by mentioning “No offense” because along the way you might come across some words that wont quite fall into the positive side of the dictionary. I’m not a full-fledged writer hence pardon me if you happen to stumble upon a few errors here and there. Today I’d like to talk about what most Nepalese have been hushing, gushing, some screaming aloud, some writing about constantly ever since the usually-grand-but-not-so-this-year Miss Nepal has ended. Yeah!! Ms. Nepal it is. So we have a tall beautiful (some have even gone on to say she is the most beautiful Miss Nepal so far..so kudos to her for that) Miss Nepal by the name of Shristi Shrestha. I feel awfully embarrassed and sad at the same time to have been writing about her. It makes me fall into the same lot of people who actually talk about other people. But what the heck!! Who doesn’t right??
Ok!! Looks first..
Height: She is like sooooooo tall for a Nepali woman and with those perfect set of legs..it makes me look at my legs, then frown my eyebrows and then give a staring glance at the idols of many gods that I have in my room and ask them “Why??? Why did u not make me that tall?”.. No answer..
Face: I’v read many articles that ran along the lines of she having gone to the cosmetic surgeon to get the looks that she has now.. Well.. even if she has ..fine..her choice..but then again..she denied all allegations in an interview with a news channel so that somewhat puts the rumor to rest. Cant blame the origin of the rumor though, her face definitely looks a little fiddled with..and by fiddle I mean with knives and not just make up. Also sometimes with a whole lot make up layered on her face, she somewhat makes me think of drag queens.. is it just me?? I don’t know..
After beauty comes another very major attribute and that's communication skills.. No one can say it's not important.. If it werent we could easily conduct beauty pageants with plastic barbies instead of the flesh-and-skin barbies. So yea..
Communication: This is where I begin to worry. The minute she opens her mouth all that charisma surrounding her is lost.. Iv seen a couple of her interviews and in all of them she looks clueless, like she’s still awestruck by the fact that she’s Miss Nepal, speaks like a shy teenager, gives answers that lack lustre and the grace level slumps down with every word. Most past Miss Nepals were very strong with communication, like Malvika Subba, Malina Shakya, Sadichha Shrestha.. and also runners up like Sahana Bajracharya, Hricha Thapa had extremely well groomed communication skills…The bars have been set high so she needs to work a lot…a hell lot infact inorder to get up there..
I get that in international pageants ones appearance is what counts most these days and I also read somewhere that the contestants are given their set of questions some time ahead of the main event… Does that mean a contestant is judged on looks alone, hell no..In all those pre-event times you go through, how you communicate most definitely adds up.. Coming from London, I see she has strong hold in English but not so much as I had expected from a girl who’s been living in London for the past 10 years…Well..m sure she’s heard this comment plentiful times and is working on it as well.. good luck to her on that..
All in all, this years Miss Nepal definitely has something.... Having worked in London before gives her added advantage to face the upcoming Miss world pageant. She’s got the looks and the style..We can only hope that this time around Miss Nepal returns home with a title!!!!
